Walking around Hulhumale yesterday, I passed a day spa with a striking array of plants and a lovely water feature outside. This is what drew me into the cool interior. There was a lovely helpful receptionist who straight away showed me their gorgeous yet simple menu and I was hooked!
Again I wanted to try something exotic so I went for a Balinese Massage. As I had been wandering around in the midday sun for a while at this stage, I asked her if I could have a shower beforehand and my therapist Rea kindly showed me to the treatment room equipped with shower and bathroom. After I freshened up, Rea showed me how to get onto the couch and the bliss started.
I’m always amazed at how the Thai Therapists jump so lightly up onto the massage couches. I actually didn’t notice it until it was pointed out to me, then I started to become aware of it! Rea started with the traditional “Elephant Walking” pressure point massage through the towels along my body, the pressure was incredible and I love this introductory welcome to the massage. She then started on the back massage, again with a fabulous deep pressure and super effective massage moves, really getting into the aches and pains in each muscle. Only two days earlier, I had taken part my friend Waru’s outdoor circuit training and I was feeling every bit of it yesterday, so massage of my aching muscles was such a welcome relief.
Rea then moved onto the legs massage, again which was wonderful. She then expertly turned me over to finish off the front of the body. What I particularly loved was the head and neck massage, so thorough and enjoyable, I really felt like a new woman after! The massage itself was an hour long but because it was so good, it felt like it was much longer! It cost 650 MVR which is approximately $43, amazing value in my book!
With 3 different locations to choose from Sheri Salon and Spa is affordable luxury for those on a budget, well worth a visit.
