So you’ve done the Perth beer gardens tour, and now you’re looking for something a little more refined, a little more…sophisticated? Honestly, we just got halfway through our beer gardens article and realised there’s actually heaps of cool little courtyards around Perth perfect for sipping on a few vinos with your pals, so decided to split the two up! And in the interest of keeping things fresh, we’ve updated the list with not one but two brand-spankin’ new joint that we’ve already fallen head over heels for.
Vincent Wine
If like us you’ve been feverishly anticipating something replacing the beautiful space at the top of William Street that used to be Meat Candy (RIP) – anticipate no longer! Vincent Wine has just opened its doors, and it’s already a winner. Bringing the mediterranean vibes we can no longer travel to, their wine list is 200-strong with a focus on France, along with plenty of homegrown specialties. The courtyard is just perfect in the afternoon sun, the vibe is wonderfully un-pretentious, and the food is delish – see you there.
SKØL
So the Scarborough Esplanade has copped a bit of a bad rap lately, and if you’re looking to give it a little space then why not head a little east for the laidback surrounds of SKØL. It opened in the back half of last year and the locals LOVE it. To be fair once you’ve spent a lazy afternoon in its Scandinavian-inspired surrounds indulging in a few cocktails and tasty share plates you’ll understand why.
Pep’s
We’ll kick things off with Perth’s newest kid on the small bar block – Pep’s in Peppy Grove. It’s just opened on Stirling Hwy and is an absolute delight. The exposed brick and Jarrah floorboards give way to a sparse little courtyard that we get the feeling is going to see a lot of action this summer.
