How to Reach Neil Island?

You are required to take a ferry from Port Blair to reach Neil Island, the duration of travel to the destination depends upon the type of ferry you are traveling in. There are two types of ferry available to relocate in different places of Andaman [Private and Government]. Most tourists prefer to travel in a private ferry like [Mackruzz / Green Ocean-1] as they are suitable for outsiders and tourists. You can also travel in Government ferry, but most of the time it is reserved for local islanders and Government officials, this ferry takes much time to reach the destination as compared to private ferry services.


Another advantage of a private ferry is that you can book your ticket online in advance without any hassle or delay, while the government ferry ticket booking service is only available in physical mode at the social welfare office located in Port Blair only. 


Local modes available to travel in Neil Island


Once you reach the Neil Island, you can discover the place via multiple transports available on the island-


1- Bicycle or Bikes


You can easily rent a bike or bicycle at an affordable rate, the conditions of the vehicle are well maintained, you can hire one from the jetty itself or you can inquire about the vehicle at your hotel or resort upon arrival, a lot of these provide bike rental services to their guests.


2- Auto rickshaw


If you are visiting this island for a shorter period of time than this transport is suitable for traveling and these are easily available ready to travel at the jetty itself or the market area of Neil Island.


If you want a comfortable air-conditioned journey then you can opt for car rental services too, this is best suited for those who are with their family or friends, the only problem is that car rentals are mostly overbooked as it is preferred by almost every type of travelers.


3- Bus


The route of this transport is all around the Island, starts from the sitapur beach to the main market of Neil island, it operates almost every hour, it takes 45-50 mins to reach the final destinations as the roads are wider and comfortable.
