One of the most common weekend treks from Delhi and Chandigarh is the Triund Trek. It's probably the simplest Himalayan trek to complete on your own.
It is also very picturesque, with stunning views of the Kangra valley and the snow-capped Dhauladhar ranges.
Triund is the perfect destination for those looking for a hassle-free Himalayan trekking experience. The trek can easily be completed over the course of a weekend.
Triund is reached through a short but steep path. The steep ascent is offset by cool walks among the rhododendron and oak trees. The forest along the trail is also home to a variety of songbirds, making it a birdwatcher's paradise. Since it's a simple trek in Himachal with easy access from Dharamshala or Mcleodganj, there are a lot of people who do it, making it difficult to enjoy the peace and quiet of the area, and it can get crowded on top during the weekends or during the holiday season. The elegance of this trek is best experienced during the weekdays.
The town of McLeodganj (also known as Little Lhasa) offers a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in Tibetan culture.

If you enjoy learning about a community through the lens of food, this is the perfect place for you to meet friendly locals and eat delectable local cuisine. Another advantage of Triund trekking is that, with the exception of monsoon rains, it can be done at any time of year. Though the best time to visit is between May and June if you want to see blooming vistas of flowers and trees, In the winter, the temperature in Triund ranges from -10 C at night to 10 C during the day.
