We might not be spending the year jet setting across the globe, but that doesn’t mean we can’t explore and unwind, right here in WA. Here are 7 of our favourite boutique hotels we’re booking for our next staycations.
Hougoumont Hotel
Small but mighty, Hougoumont‘s thoughtful touches take it to the next level. Constructed utilising stacked shipping containers, the interior makes the most of its small footprint. Finishes are luxurious, with thoughtful, understated touches that make the experience all the more enjoyable, like toiletries by Appelles Apothecary, luxury bedding, or the pillow menu – so you know you’ll be getting a good night’s sleep.
Warders Hotel
Now when we say boutique, Warders Hotel really means business. With only 11 rooms, this recently opened sister hotel to the aforementioned Hougoumont truly showcases Fremantle’s unique heritage architecture. Occupying the limestone cottages that once housed Fremantle Prison Warders, rooms have been meticulously restored and luxuriously outfitted. Each room has features like rain showers and luxury toiletries, as well as in-room sparkling and still water taps, while ground level rooms enjoy a kitchenette and private street-side courtyard alongside the hustle and bustle of Freo.

With this preservation in mind, the mill has been restored and refurbished – not quite into her former glory, but a new, forward-thinking iteration. Stay in one of their luxuriously-outfitted 22 rooms, each of which reflects the unique space; whether it’s inside the old grain silo, a cosy boiler room or the light-filled rooms once used to purify wheat and flour. Don’t worry – the industrial setting is
