Perth is definitely a city for young families, and the further you spread out, the more new estates seem to pop up to cater for them. And with new estates comes some seriously epic new park spaces to keep the tiny ones tuckered out. Whether it’s for the upcoming school holidays or just a casual weekend out in the fresh air (and off those screens!), here are 20 awesome kids playgrounds all over Perth.
Braithwaite Park, Mt Hawthorn
An awesome little nature playground nestled amidst the schools area of Mt Hawthorn, it’s got a good mix of play areas, even for slightly older kids. The flying fox is always a hit, but it’s the variety of opportunities for exploration that’ll keep the kids busy for ages.
Whale Playground, Scarborough
The Scarborough Esplanade facelift over the past few years has many of excellent reasons to visit, and the huge Whale Playground at the northern end is one of ‘em. The life size whale skeleton, cubby house and climbing areas, combined with skate park, rock climbing and basketballs next door make for a huge day out.
Treasure Island, Alkimos
Shorehaven’s Treasure Island adventure playground is ridiculously huge, and even comes with its own set of hidden clues and puzzles for kids to solve! Collect a treasure hunt booklet from the sales office and leave it with the kids while you grab a coffee/drink at Shorehouse Café or Oceans 27 next door!
Kinkuna Adventure Playground, Eglinton
Another insanely huge kids playground north of the river, Kinkuna features a wooden fort with ramps and rope climbs, nature-based play areas, basketball courts and BBQ areas. There’s also a small water play area during the summer areas, and the BBQs even come complete with a free music streaming service (!).
Hyde Park, Perth
This popular inner-city park is a little oasis for those who love to frequent it, and there’s plenty to do for kids too. In warmer months there’s a large water play zone, while the kid’s playground area is good fun, and it’s just a great park for walking around and exploring.
