Ghorepani Poon Hill is the beautiful ridge located inside the Annapurna Sanctuary. It offers the best sunrise view that sets against the backdrop of majestic mountains. Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is one of the most popular short trek in Nepal. How to reach Poon Hill
Ghorepani Poon Hill trek starts from Nayapul as we drive one and half hour from Pokhara. We will leave the wide black topped road and follow the off beaten trekking trail. As we start our hike from Nayapul, we pass via the culturally rich village of Ulleri and slowly trek towards Ghorepani and explore beautiful landscapes. As we hike forward, we pass along the beautiful scenery of rhododendrons forest and glimpse of Himlayas. Meeting local Gurung and Magar inhabitants and learning about their lifestyle and culture as we hike towards our destination.

From Ghorepani we hike to Poon hill, a one hour hike to the beautiful ridge at the mountain. We can observe the stunning views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Massif, Machhapucchre, Hiunchuli, Nilgiri, and Mardi from Poon Hill. Poon Hill offers the best sunrise view, as the sun rays kisses the Himalays. We can also enjoy tea/coffee at the tea-station located at the Hill. After taking photographs and enjoying the fascinating view of the himalays, we trek towards Ghandruk. Passing along different villages and eye catching landscapes, we reach to Ghandruk via Tadapani. We end our hike at Ghandruk, a beautiful Gurung commune village. Learning about the lifestyle and traditions of people living in the region is the best thing we can do in this trail. From Ghandruk we travel back to Pokhara on a 2 hour jeep drive.  

Permits for Poon Hill Trek
You need to have both Trekking Information Management System (TIMS) and Annapurna Sanctuary Permit while trekking Ghorepani Poon Hill. 
Trekking permits can be taken from Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) office situated at Kathmandu or Pokhara or Tourist Office before you start the trek. 

Best Time to Trek Ghorepani Poon Hill
The best time for hiking the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is Spring (March – May) and Autumn (September – November) with comfortable temperature and clear blue sky. 
It is also possible to hike in December and January, but be thoughtful about the weather and snowy climate.
