We’re not here to debate semantics – whether you’re looking for a parmi, a parma, or a parmy … here’s are some must-visits to add to your list.
Back Bar at Hylin
We’d like to say some of the specials at Hylin’s Back Bar are hidden gems, but the pumping crowds there just about every night of the week betray that the cat really is out of the bag. Thanks, in no small part, to the heart-stoppingly low prices: only $10 with a drink order. Wednesday is parmi night – and you can get your hands on your choice of chicken or eggplant, served with hand cut royal blue potatoes.
On a mission to level-up from standard pub fare, Samudera is cutting no corners. As well as a next-level brunch menu and selection of house-baked pastries, date night is sorted with their parmigiana board for two. A huge portion of free range chicken is crumbed with sourdough, topped with house-made passata and La Delizia Latticini mozzarella – which is then served alongside pasta aglio e olio made with local olive oil, house-made hand cut fries and a seasonal salad. Phew!
Any excuse to order a spritz is fine by us, but the amber cocktail isn’t the only thing Spritz Spizzicheria has to offer. Their menu takes you from a long afternoon of cocktails and nibbles to more substantial pasta, pizza and mains – including a chicken parmigiana that will make you say “Mamma mia!”. Served atop a bowl of spaghetti napoletana, you should definitely arrive hungry.
Hyde Park Hotel
The Hydey is a textbook pub, and it stands to reason that their parmi wouldn’t stray too far from traditional, either – you’ll find it topped with ham, Napoli sauce and cheese, and served alongside Italian slaw and chips (of course).
