Madrid may be the stepbrother to Barcelona but it still has its unique advantages over Barcelona. For example, Madrid embodies more history, art, and museums and the vibe of the city reflects it. It's a quiet, more structured environment but nonetheless, if you're in Spain you should definitely check it out!
Here are the top 3 things to do in Madrid!
1.) Royal Palace of Madrid
The Royal Palace of Madrid is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family at the city of Madrid, but it is only used for state ceremonies. With luxurious, over-the-top rococo palace and over 2,000 opulently gilded rooms, you could spend a whole day touring the Palace!
2.) Eat At The Market of San Miguel
Madrid's most famous market is a glass-and-iron palace modeled on Paris' Les Halles Centrales, first built in 1916 and expensively restored in 2009. It's one of the best places in Madrid to grab a bite to eat. Although it can be expensive it's still worth walking through!
3.) Plaza Mayor
The Plaza Mayor was built during Philip III's reign and is a central plaza in the city of Madrid, Spain. It is located only a few Spanish blocks away from another famous plaza, the Puerta del Sol. It is also a great place in the summer to have a few drinks if they are having a concert!
Of course, there are a ton more things to do in Madrid but in my four days there these were the three things that stood out to me! Leave a comment and let me know your favorite things to do in Madrid :)
