Is there anything that gets you more into the Christmas spirit than a town filled with Christmas lights? From the littlest light in a window to a full-blown spectacle, it’s all pretty magical this time of year – but one thing is true, there’s nowhere that does it quite like Mandurah. The bar keeps getting raised, with the displays getting bigger and better every festive season – and this year is no exception.
The canals are just one part of what makes Mandurah’s Christmas lights so special, with over 200 homes creating spectacular light displays that are made even more impressive as they shine and twinkle over the water. These impressive efforts by local Mandurah residents are not just amazing to look at, they also go towards raising money for the Rotary Club of Mandurah, who distribute the funds to a variety of deserving local causes.
And the best way to see these lights? Well, it’s gotta be cruising down the canals, of course! There are heaps of local businesses who run tours each festive season, just make sure you book in sooner rather than later, as spots fill up in a flash.
As well as the canal lights, there is an elaborate display on land too. Each year, you can stroll around the Mandurah Foreshore and down a beautiful walking trail of spectacular Christmas lights. This year, the Mandurah Christmas Lights Trail has some huge new additions to their already amazing trail. There are now over 23 installations, with a Christmas boot, a countdown clock, a Chopper motorcycle, a reindeer to sit on and a Colours of Mandurah light-up archway – plus 50 interactive coloured stepping stones.
If you can’t quite get to it all in one night, the trail will be twinkling until the 9th of January, so make sure to check..
