To fully appreciate the effect a chin augmentation can have on a patient, the surgeon must make a thorough assessment of the face and have a good understanding of the relevant anatomy. While many patients opt for chin implant surgery on their own, just as often chin augmentation will be combined with other procedures for better results. Chin implants can greatly improve the results of rhinoplasty, and chin augmentation with nose reshaping surgery is one of the most common combinations of facial reshaping procedures. Although chin augmentation is often performed as an isolated procedure, it can be the finishing touch to other facial surgeries.

The best candidates for chin implant surgery are healthy men or women whose expectations are realistic and are designed to enhance the chin to provide better facial and overall contour balance. Typically, surgery involves placing implants around a patient's existing jawbone to increase the size and shape of the jaw and achieve a more natural balance between facial features. If you are concerned about a sunken or "weak" chin, or if you feel that your facial features are disproportionate, chin implant surgery can help you feel more confident about your appearance. Changes to the chin can significantly improve facial balance and also improve the appearance of the neck.

At CaloAesthetics® Plastic Surgery Centers, we perform chin augmentation using the surgical placement of temporary fillers or chin implants in Lexington, KY, and Louisville. In our Kentucky office, chin augmentation is often combined with other facial cosmetic procedures, such as rhinoplasty, neck liposuction or facelift. Chin augmentation is usually performed on an outpatient basis using local anesthesia in our AAAAS-approved operating room; in some cases, general anesthesia is used. Chin implants may only be performed by board-certified surgeons such as facial plastic surgeons, general plastic surgeons, or oral/maxillofacial surgeons who have some experience in cosmetic facial and chin augmentation cosmetic surgery.

Some of the possible risks of jaw augmentation surgery include movement or displacement of the implant, numbness of the jaw and/or lower lip due to nerve damage, bruising, prolonged swelling, and infection. As with most elective facial procedures, patients with severe heart, lung, or kidney problems may not be candidates for jaw augmentation surgery. Chin augmentation using donor bone implants in patients appears to be associated with higher rates of infection, even after the implants have been in use for decades. Chin augmentation can be achieved by manipulating the mandible (mandible), and augmentation using this technique often provides more significant correction than using prosthetic implants.

Chin augmentation with surgical implants can change the underlying structure of the face, providing a better balance of facial features. Chin surgery, also known as mentoplasty, is a surgical procedure to reshape the chin, either through augmentation with an implant or bone reduction surgery. In chin surgery, an implant is placed in front of the jawbone to enlarge the chin or jaw. Although these implants can be inserted through an incision made in the mouth, Dr. Richardson and Dr. Kane usually perform the procedure through a small incision under the chin that is hidden in a natural skin fold.

This allows the implant to individually adapt to the shape of the patient's face. During the procedure, the surgeon makes a small incision in the skin under the chin. During surgery to improve a small or weak jaw, a small incision will be made in the mouth under the chin or where the lower lip and gums meet. The implant is then placed directly on the bone along the mandible.

Made from a synthetic material that closely resembles the natural tissue typically found in the jaw, this implant comes in a variety of sizes and shapes. The wide variety of shapes and sizes available for chin implants allows us to customize each procedure to meet individual patient wishes, making it a great option for both men and women looking to increase chin shape. Chin implants vary in size and profile; your plastic surgeon will help you choose the one that will achieve the level of improvement you want and provide the most natural-looking results.

The chin is an important aspect of the face and a person may want to get a chin implant to achieve a more defined or prominent chin contour to enhance their appearance. The surgeon or employee will take photographs so that the surgeon can examine the facial features and chins of people. The surgeon will use these x-rays to figure out which part of the chin to operate on.

The surgeon uses a saw or chisel to make a second incision in the jawbone. Jaw thrust surgery can be used to correct the position of the teeth and improve the projection of the chin. Bite correction surgery (orthognathic surgery) can be done at the same time as chin surgery.

This can take the form of lowering the chin height rounding through an osteotomy or enlarging the chin through implants. Improving facial balance is usually done by inserting implants through the mouth to improve the jaw. clinical significance. Allogeneic chin implants are used to increase the prominence of the chin and can be used to make the appearance of the face more attractive.

Procedures such as autologous fat grafting, chin augmentation, conservative periorbital rejuvenation, and buccal space modification are often used in conjunction with rhytidectomy to create facial harmony and improve rejuvenated contours and shape [37]. Our methodology consists of a combination of a personalized SMAS facelift with autologous fat grafting, fillers, conservative transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty (with or without fat reduction), buccal space modification (enlargement or reduction), and preauricular volume correction (usually increasing on faces). skeletal and tapering patients with round, square, or rectangular faces). After proper anesthesia, the surgeon will create a pocket for the implant and use sensors to determine the correct protrusion and height of the enlarged chin.

While the above procedures can improve the aesthetics of the jaw, they will not improve the occlusion of the teeth. It is often performed in conjunction with other facial plastic surgery procedures to maintain facial balance or improve overall facial aesthetics.
