Kedarnath, the Land of the Gods, has a 1000-year-old temple evoking deep emotions, an engulfing holy ambience, and breath-taking snow-covered Himalayan mountains. Kedarnath, named for King Kedar of the Satya Yuga, is one of the four Chota char Dhams with Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Badrinath. Everyone should go to Kedarnath Yatra at least once in their lifetime. Here are a few top tourist places near Kedarnath on your next trip to Uttarakhand.

Ukhimath: Anirudh, the grandson of Lord Krishna, and Usha, the daughter of Vanasur, were married here. Therefore, the place was renamed Ushamath, currently known as Ukhimath. During the winter, the idols from Kedarnath and Madhyamaheshwar are carried to Ukhimath and worshipped there for six months.

Chandrashila: The Chandrashila mountain, which is 4000 meters above sea level, is one of the most popular spots to visit in Kedarnath. It provides a spectacular 360-degree panorama of the Himalayan range and prominent peaks in the region, such as Nanda Devi. It is said that after defeating Ravana, Lord Rama prayed to Lord Shiva in this location. The walk to Chandrashila is difficult, with hikers needing to traverse 4.5 meters from Chopta, the summit with the highest Shiva shrine.

Chopta: Chopta is a tiny hamlet and valley in Uttarakhand, a state in Northern India. It is often known as 'Mini Switzerland.' Chopta is situated at 2680 meters above sea level. The trip to the well-known Tungnath Mandir begins at Chopta. Tourists can participate in various adventurous activities on their Chopta tour, including snow trekking, rock craft, snow skiing, rock climbing, rappelling, camping, and outdoor games.

Deoriya Tal: It is a beautiful emerald lake that draws many visitors. Deoriya Tal can also be spelled Devariyatal. The lake is well situated among the lush greenery of the tall trees surrounding it. The early morning view of the crystal blue water of the lake reflecting the lush green surroundings and Chaukhamba peaks from its elevation of 2438 meters is just magnificent. Deoriya Tal is part of the Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary, and visitors who are lucky enough can see animals drinking in the lake.
