☝️Helpful Tips:

For the immigration: If you’re a government employee bring with you your Certificate of Employment and Leave of Absences. Prepare your return ticket and Hotel Bookings. Answer their question brief and concise.

Change your Philippine pesos to US Dollars 💵

If you have your Visa Credit/Debit Card inform your bank that you’re going to another country so they can activate it. BDO charges 3$ per transaction internationally.

If you plan to cross the border by bus book it ahead of time.

Book your hostels via Agoda so you have the option to pay at the property in case your trip got cancelled. No charges if you cancel your bookings 2 days before check in dates.

Drink Vitamin C 500 mg every day!

Download an offline map app in case you don’t have the internet connection.

English is not a universal language 😐 most of them can’t understand nor talk English. So better have a translator app.

Travel Tax is 1620 pesos!

✈️ Airfare

Book your tickets during seat sales! I will not include airfare part of the 20k budget because it depends if you’ll get a promo or not. I got my roundtrip tickets for 7000 php that’s Manila - Bangkok via Cebu Pacific and Ho Chi Minh - Manila via Air Asia. My Dipolog to Manila to Dipolog I got it for 1050 php via Philippine Airlines as promo.

Tip: Seat Sales come out during legal holidays every 12mn 😉

🏨 Hostels

I’m a budget a traveller so I don’t need expensive staycations. Download the Agoda Application and search these following hostels:

Stone House Hotel Pasay 860 php per night

( Private AC Room with common CR with breakfast )

Hide Bangkok Hostel 396 baht per night

Current exchange is 1 thai baht = 1.60 php

( Dormitory AC Room with common CR )

Siem Reap Pub Hostel 660 pesos per night

( Private AC Room with own CR )

Phuc Khanh 2 Hotel $ 5.50

( Dormitory Room with common CR )

Note: All Rates are good for 2 persons per night so divided by 2 ☺️

🚌 Cross Border Bus

Note: Book 1 week before your trip to avoid fully booked scenarios 😌

Bangkok - Siem Reap

Nattakan Bus Company

Fare 28$ with snacks, lunch and free drop off to your hostel in Siem Reap. Travel time 9 hours.

Siem Reap - Ho Chi Minh

Virak Buntham Bus Company

Fare 22$ no food so byop 😅 Travel time 12-13 hours

If you plan to stay 3 days in Thailand better buy their tourist roaming sim 199 baht 3gb data good for 5 days! You need internet connection to google places you want to visit. Thai people are very friendly but mind you they cannot speak nor understand English. So download a translator application, it’s a big help!

From the airport going to Hide Bangkok Hostel, Go to the basement of the airport, you can find a train 🚊 ticket price is 40 baht tell the cashier you’re dropping at the BTS station. Transfer to another train, so from BTS Station, buy another ticket going to E9 On Nut fare 45 baht. Go out at On Nut Station take Exit number 2 then ride a motorbike going to hide bangkok hostel ( they already know where the hostel is ) fare is 10 baht each.

Hide Bangkok Hostel, you need to deposit 100 baht per person and 20 baht rent for the towel. I really recommend this hostel: rating 9/10 👍

DIY tours in Bangkok

Day 1 in BKK: Temple Hopping

Use Grab Car for the means of transportation or the BTS Train up to you. If you use Grab Car drivers will ask you if you wanna take the highway if you’re not in a hurry tell the driver NO! Coz’ highway will cost you 115 baht for the tollway fees. If you’re 4 in a group, well you can split it up and go to your destination faster.

Grand Palace Entrance Fee 500 baht closes at 3 pm

Wat Pho Entrance Fee 100 baht closes at 5 pm

Boat going to Wat Arun 50 baht

Wat Arun Entrance Fee 100 baht closes at 5 pm

Take note: They’re very strict about the dress code! No above the knees and off sleeves!

From Wat Arun take a boat going to Khao San Road just tell them to drop you off to the nearest terminal to Khao San Road, fare is 50 baht. From the terminal you can walk going to Khao San Road or take a Tuktuk for 60 baht each. Enjoy shopping there!

Going back to the hostel, go back to the terminal where you dropped off take a boat going to the train station fare 15 baht then same buy the ticket for 44 baht going to E9 On Nut.

Day 2: See the 🐘

Our main plan was to go to Chiang Mai for the elephants 🐘 but buses were fully booked so we did our Plan B and that’s Ayutthaya.

From E9 On Nut station ride the train going to Mo Chit station fare 45 baht. Then from the station ride a motorbike going to Mo Chit Bus Station fare 60 baht per person or try to book it with Grab Taxi 🚕 from the hostel to Mo Chit Bus Station if you’re traveling by group for less hassle.

Bus going to Ayutthaya 60 baht per person travel time 2.5 hours. Rent a Tuktuk for 5 hours to take you to the main attractions in Ayutthaya usually price ranges from 1000 baht - 1500 baht for the whole tour so just divide it. 1 Tuktuk can accommodate 6 people. Tell the driver to take you to Baanice ThaiFood for lunch. Good and affordable thai food.

For the entrance in every destination usually it’s just 20 - 50 baht. For the Elephant Sanctuary we haggled up to 1200 baht for the Elephant ride good for 2 persons supposedly it’s 1000 baht per person for 30 mins ride. Plus 100 baht for the hard copy printed picture. Floating Market Entrance 200 baht per person, free boat ride and entrance to all the markets. Enjoy shopping again!

Day 3 in BKK

Hello Kitty Cafe is located in Siam Mall, so from On Nut station ride the BTS train going to Siam fare 45 baht. Then just use gps to take you to Hello Kitty Cafe. Food ranges from 100 baht to 300 baht. Opens at 10 am to 10 pm.

Day 4

Because of limited time so we only did the Angkor Wat Tour for 1 day well you can really finish it in 1 day, 5 places to visit, 37$ for 1 day pass.

If you will stay in Siem Reap Pub Hostel book the Tuktuk with them just 15$ each for the whole day.

Other Tuktuk drivers will ask you 20-30$ each for the whole day so be wise.

Day 5

Visit Pub Street and Night Market 😊 if you want to buy pasalubong for your love ones trust me it’s better to buy in Cambodia than Thailand. Also enjoy their 1$ foot massage for 15 mins and 3$ for 30 mins with neck and back massage included.

Note: Cambodia uses US Dollars 💵 and PhP to Cambodian Rial has a bad exchange rate. So better use $ 💵

Day 6

Half day itinerary in Ho Chi Minh we did the City Tour. Just use GRAB Car as means of transportation.

Note: exchange your US Dollars to Vietnamese Dong 1$ = 23 296 vietnamese dong

Half day budget is 15$

So that’s my 6 days itinerary for 3 countries with 20k budget excluding airfare 👍 Enjoy your future Indochina Trip! 😘
